Patrick Aloysius Ewing is the Georgetown basketball coach. He is a Jamaican-American ex-pro. He is one among the most accomplished college basketball coaches across the country. Ewing has guided the men’s team to the NCAA Tournament twice in the past. His Georgetown heritage is extensive, and his players have been praised because of their leadership and talent.

Patrick Aloysius Ewing

Alex Kolt

Alex Kolt joined Georgetown's football team in 2011. He served as the defensive line coach from 2013 to 2016 and also coached tight ends. His most recent job is as assistant head coach on the offensive. Kolt's offensive-line unit has been steadily improving over the last few seasons. The Hoyas ranked third in the Patriot League in 2017 and finished second in the conference in 2018. They also allowed the fewest sacks in the league this past season.

Previously, Kolt helped lead the Old Dominion Athletic Conference to conference titles in 2007 and 2008, and finished the season ranked No. 14. He was also a three-time Academic All-ODAC selection. Kolt, a native Arlington, Va., received a B.A. Kolt, who is from Arlington, Va. graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor for rhetoric. He also received a Master's Degree in Education in Sports Leadership in 2011. He currently lives in Alexandria with his wife, Nicole.

Ryan Devlin

Ryan Devlin was named assistant coach at George Washington University (GW), for the 2020-21 season. He has coached five NBA athletes and has been a coach for fifteen years. He was an assistant at Montrose Christian School from 2008-09 and Bowling Brook Preparatory School from 2005-07. He was born and raised in Waynesboro. He attended the University of Pittsburgh.


Georgetown's basketball team is facing a tough recruiting and coaching situation. While the University has decided to protect Patrick Ewing for another season, they have not been able make the necessary changes to improve their program. Every day that passes is another day when it could have been used for recruiting for the next season.

Brenden Straughn

Brenden Straughn, a native of Maryland, joined the Loyola University Maryland men's basketball coaching staff in June of 2018. He attended Hood College in Frederick, Maryland and has been a high school and AAU coach for the past five years. He served previously as an assistant coach to Team Takeover, which is an AAU team based in Washington, D.C.

A four-year starter at Hood, Straughn served as team captain during his last three seasons. He finished his college career among the top-10 in scoring assists, steals and scoring. He averaged 8.7 minutes, 3.6 assists, along with 1.3 stoles per game. Straughn obtained a bachelor's in business administration. He was also active in the Black Student Union/Athletic Peer Mentor Group. Straughn was a graduate of GW and worked in the data processing and accounting industries.

Jaren Jackson

Jaren Jackson, the founder and CEO of Georgetown Coaching, has impressive credentials. He was valedictorian for his high school class. He went on to play college baseball at Georgetown University where he played alongside Alonzo Morning, the future NBA superstar. He also played under Hall of Fame coach John Thompson. After graduating from Georgetown, he had a 12-year NBA playing career. He played for nine different teams, won a WBL title, and enjoyed an amazing basketball career. He also played for the San Antonio Spurs, where he was a part of the David Robinson-Tim Duncan supporting cast.

Jackson was a reserve for his first two seasons at Georgetown. Jackson averaged approximately 11 minutes per contest and helped the Hoyas go 29-5. He had strong performances against Providence (Pitt) and Providence (3.3 points).
